How to Install Your Glass Floor Hatch: A Simple Guide
When it comes to adding a stunning glass floor hatch to your home, a key concern for many clients is the installation process. The good news is, we have spent years perfecting our design and engineering to make installation as simple as possible. We deliver a complete, ready-to-fit product, leaving only a few straightforward steps for your builder or a competent tradesperson.

The Starting Point: Your Structural Opening
The installation begins with your home. All our glass floor hatches are custom-made to fit a prepared structural opening in your floor. Your job, therefore, is to create this clean and level opening, whether it's for a new build or a renovation. We then use your precise measurements to design and manufacture a glass door that will fit your space perfectly.
Bespoke Design for a Perfect Fit
We can create custom units to suit almost any size opening. For optimal performance and ease of use, we recommend keeping single-panel hatches below 2000 x 1000mm where possible. For larger openings, our solution is to combine a hinged hatch with a fixed glass panel to fill the remainder of the space. This allows you to safely access your wine cellar or basement while maintaining a clean, continuous line of glass that floods the space below with natural light. Electric doors can go upto 2300mm wide in one door if required.
Simplified Installation from a Fully Assembled Unit
Our goal is to make installation as simple as possible. That’s why every one of our glass wine cellar doors and walk-on glass panels is supplied fully assembled. This means the frame, glass, and all the necessary components are pre-fitted in our workshop.
For our manual systems, the unit is ready to be set into the structural opening and secured.
For our electric systems, the process is just as simple. The unit comes with a "plug and play" control box, so there is no complex wiring or electrical work required.
Ultimately, your builder just needs to provide the structural opening, and our door can be designed to suit.
