About Glass Floor Systems | UK-Made Glass Floors & Cellar Doors

Who We Are

Glass Floor Systems is a specialist UK manufacturer of structural glass floor products — including bespoke wine cellar doors, glass floor hatches, walk-on glass panels, and glass well covers. We design and build everything from our workshop in Sheffield, using materials sourced as locally as possible, and we've been doing it for the better part of a decade.

We're not a large corporation or a product catalogue reseller. We're a small, hands-on team that takes genuine pride in what we make. Every unit that leaves our workshop has been designed, engineered, and assembled specifically for the customer who ordered it — because almost every project is different, and we think that's how it should be.

What We Make

Our core products are:

  • Hinged Glass Wine Cellar Doors — manual gas-strut operated hatches for access to spiral cellars, basements, and underground storage spaces. Available in a wide range of sizes and custom configurations.
  • Electric Glass Floor Doors — fully motorised versions that open and close at the touch of a button, popular for larger doors or where a seamless, hands-free experience is the priority.
  • Circular & Spiral Cellar Hatches — round glass doors designed specifically for spiral cellar installations, where a standard rectangular hatch simply won't do.
  • Walk-On Glass Panels & Frameworks — fixed structural glass floor panels with supporting steel frameworks, for creating a glass floor feature in any setting.
  • Glass Well Covers — custom circular covers for water wells and light wells, turning a safety necessity into a genuine design feature.

Every product is made to order. We don't hold stock of finished units — we make yours when you order it, to your specific dimensions and requirements.

Made in Sheffield

Sheffield has a long and proud tradition of precision engineering and steelwork, and we're happy to be part of that. Our frames are fabricated and finished in the city, and wherever possible we work with local and regional suppliers for our materials. When you order from us, you're buying something made in a real workshop by real people — not shipped from a warehouse overseas.

Our Sheffield base also means you're welcome to visit. We don't have a formal showroom, but if you'd like to come and see samples, talk through your project in person, or take a look at how we work, we're happy to arrange that. Just get in touch and we'll set something up.

How We Work

Most of our customers come to us with a project in mind — a new spiral cellar being installed, a basement conversion taking shape, a light well that needs covering — and we work with them from enquiry through to delivery to make sure what they get fits the space properly.

Every order starts with a conversation. We'll ask about your opening size, your floor finish, how the door will be used, and what aesthetic you're going for. From there we'll advise on the most suitable product and configuration, provide a drawing for you to review with your builder or installer, and manufacture to the agreed specification. We aim to be straightforward and honest throughout — if something isn't going to work, we'll say so early rather than let you find out later.

Our products are supplied as fully assembled units, ready to drop into a prepared structural opening. Installation is typically within the capability of a competent builder or tradesperson, and we provide guidance to support this. For electric systems, a qualified electrician will be needed for the final connection.

Supply Nationwide — and Beyond

We supply customers across the UK, from London townhouses to country estates to urban apartments in cities up and down the country. We also ship internationally — our products have been installed in France, Norway, the USA, Canada, and further afield. If you're outside the UK and interested in a product, contact us for an export quotation including shipping.
