Electric Hinged Glass Floor Hatch & Wine Cellar Door

Our electric glass floor hatch brings hands-free convenience to the elegance of a walk-on glass cellar door. With a concealed electric motor and discreet wiring, the hatch opens and closes smoothly at the touch of a wall switch or remote control — no effort required, regardless of the size or weight of the glass.

UK-made to order in our Sheffield workshop, each unit arrives as a complete, fully assembled system: frame, glass panel, motor, and control electronics pre-fitted and ready to drop into your structural opening. Your electrician makes the final connection to your mains supply.

How It Works

The electric mechanism replaces the gas-strut system used in our manual hatches. A compact motor is integrated into the frame and connected to a simple control box. Operate it via a discreet wall switch or wireless remote — the hatch lifts smoothly, holds open while you access the space below, then closes on command. A safety cutout prevents operation if something obstructs the opening.

Specification

  • Glass — 25.5mm toughened laminated safety glass as standard; 33mm available for higher load requirements or larger spans
  • Frame — Powder-coated steel, certified to BS 1090-2
  • Load rating — Tested to a 2.0kN concentrated load and 1.5kN/m² uniform load, meeting UK building regulations for domestic floor loading (BS EN 1991-1-1)
  • Operation — Electric motor with wall switch and wireless remote; safety cutout included
  • Anti-slip finish — Optional; tested to PTV 36+
  • Colour — Standard black powder coat; other RAL colours available on request
  • Sizes — Standard rectangular sizes available to order; bespoke sizes made to order
  • Lead time — Approximately 10–12 weeks from order confirmation
